Stat attack: Sheffield Wednesday have kept a clean sheet in their last
three home matches against in all competitions, and are undefeated in
their last six home matches against the Blues in all competitions.
Craig Gardner, has been in impressive form for Birmingham this term
winning man of the match twice – a not too familiar achievement for
defenders in this league.
Sixteenth-placed Sheffield Wednesday and 20th-placed Birmingham City
will go head-to-head in the Championship (CS) in what could be a crucial
match in the second-half of the season.
The last six meetings have favoured the Owls, with four home wins, one
loss and one draw.
Players to watch: 30-year-old English striker Gary Hooper has been the
go-to man for the Owls when in need of goals and he has not disappointed
with ten goals this term.
With both clubs recently joining the December/January managerial
merry-go-round, both teams have seen a spurt of impetus in their CS
Sheffield Wednesday are coming into this clash unbeaten in six games and
manager Jos Luhukay is with a fully fit squad. He has taken them back to
basics with three games unbeaten, and whilst they are without a goal in
their last three games, fan-voted player of the month keeper Joe
Wildsmith has been in tremendous form.
Birmingham are underperforming in the CS table but they head into this
clash with the better form (W3, L1, D1) from their last five fixtures.
With a poor start to the season, Blues boss Steve Cotterill has overseen
a resurgence of form in recent games and will face a tough fixture
against a resolute Sheffield Wednesday.
Birmingham have not won at Hillsborough since 2006 - when they trashed
the Owls 3-0.
