Tenth-placed Leeds and fourth-placed Cardiff will go head-to-head in the
Championship (CS) in what could be a crucial match in the upper half.
Leeds have their eyes set on the play-off spots, while Cardiff can aim
even higher: if they win this match they could go equal on points with
Derby in second place.
If either are to achieve their goals however, they need to improve their
form. With two (Leeds) and four (Cardiff) points from their last five
matches, respectively, both sides have been losing ground to competitors
in recent weeks.
Leeds might not be thrilled to be up against Cardiff while hunting
desperately for points. In the last nine meetings between the sides at
Elland Road, the home side have only managed to win once.
Conceding is costly. Both teams have scored 40 goals this season, but
Cardiff find themselves seven points ahead of Leeds due to conceding
eight goals less.
Players to watch: Kemar Roofe have already doubled his tally from last
season with eight goals so far. He scored against Cardiff in Wales, and
will be looking to get among the goals again.
Despite not scoring in his last eight CS games, Junior Hoilett is always
one to watch. With six goals and six assists, the pacey Canadian scored
in the reverse fixture and will be looking to cause problems for Leeds
Stat attack: The home side arguably have been the worst behaved team in
the CHA so far, accruing five red cards and 57 yellows.
Leeds have kept a clean sheet in five home matches this season, drawing
0-0 on three occasions.
Cardiff away games yield 2.1 goals on average, one of the lowest numbers
in the league. Eight of 14 matches have ended under 2.5 goals.
